I must admit I’m not really a morning person, I’m not one of those people that wake up in the morning, leap out of bed with a big smile on their face shouting Hallelujah it’s 6am, time to get up!!

But once I’m actually up I do really appreciate the mornings and actually believe that morning is the best part of the day.

Recently I’ve been forcing myself to get up early and do some exercise every morning, firstly because I’m finding it difficult to get the time to exercise in the evenings but secondly because basically over winter I’ve become a lazy slug in desperate need of a health and fitness kick!

So every morning for the last three weeks my alarm has been going off at 6.30am and slowly but surely I’ve been dragging myself out of bed, pulling on my cycling clothes and setting off for a cycle. The first few mornings I think I barely had my eyes open as I meandered along the cycle path, but the more I did it the more my body started to adjust until one morning I realised I was actually enjoying it – really enjoying it! The silence of the sleepy town as the sun starts to rise, the happy chatter of the birds in the trees and the occasional shock of a rabbit scurrying across the path looking for its breakfast. There really is no better way to wake up in the morning and set your goals for the day ahead!

Now, I get up a little easier (ok, so I only hit the snooze button once!) and look forward to my morning exercise, because even in the early mornings one can have a mini adventure…    🙂

The best part of the day…
