163 Mile challenge Desperately Seelking Adventure
163 Mile challenge Desperately Seelking Adventure

I’ve just completed coast to coast on a bike with a group of friends. It was tough, exhilarating, emotional at times but a real achievement.

I realised, whilst on the journey, why I enjoy doing these challenges in groups. 163 miles over some of the highest passes, in some of the worst weather conditions June could throw at us would have been miserable and possibly not achievable had it not been for the camaraderie, laughter and support of a group of like minded people.

Even though I’d known them for some time, we really bonded as a team, and supported each other during our various points of struggle and pain (mostly in our legs!). There were times when I wondered what on earth I was doing this for, the elation I felt as we rose over the final hill and looked down towards the sea – our destination Whitby – it was all worth it.

A challenge wouldn’t be a challenge without a journey through a range of emotions, and it wouldn’t be an enjoyable experience without a fantastic group of supportive, fun and interesting friends…
