Spanning through Morocco, Algeria and into Tunisia, the Atlas mountains landscape is dramatic and beautiful. Add to this some fascinating traditional berber villages and pretty mountain streams makes Morocco an incredible trekking experience.
During the summer months the ascent of Toubkal, North Africas highest peak, isn’t technical, and as long as you are reasonably fit there is a good chance you’ll reach the top.
On this 7 night trekking experience, we’ll spend our first evening and following morning exploring the wondrous city of Marrakech, before setting off on our trek in the afternoon. We’ll take a mini bus to Imlil, a berber village at the foot of the mountains, before walking up to Aroumd, a small village a few hundred metres higher. The following morning we’ll trek up the winding valley to Refuge Mouflons at approximately 3200m where we’ll acclimatise.
The following day we’ll walk a little bit higher to acclimatise further, taking in the beautiful views that surround us and look over towards Toubkal, before heading back down to the refuge to relax. On day four we’ll ascend Mount Toubkal, taking the North Cwm route to the top. The views from the top really are stunning. We’ll take time to rest and enjoy the achievement at the summit before descending the South Cwm back to the refuge. Relax and celebrate during the evening, before heading back down to Imlil the following morning and back into Marrakech for a few days of relaxation, discovery and exploration before heading home…
